About this project

This project was developed as a vehicle for communicating the research I compiled during my Master of Education program, completed through British Columbia's Vancouver Island University. With a specialization in inclusive education and previous experience in spatial design, I looked to the literature to find connections between space, learning, and inclusivity.
The information housed on this site comes from published research papers, educational policy documents, professional industry websites, government reports, and other legitimate data sources. Through this online platform, I hope to disseminate the knowledge I’ve compiled directly to educators and school districts, and in doing so, help schools see the various benefits of implementing this practical information in their classrooms. As a teacher, I believe there is great value in understanding the research and developing evidence-based practice. From positive outcomes for students, to more confident and informed teachers, to environments primed for engagement and adaptability—there's a lot to gain.

Community building

One of the advantages of an online forum is the possibility of attracting a diverse community of engaged educators and connecting those who are keen to collaborate. While this site is still in its infancy, I would like to develop an online community—perhaps a social media site, chat group, or cooperatively-run digital photo gallery—if the interest is out there. After all, when it comes to improving teaching practice, collaboration is one of the core principles of effective professional development (Sims & Fletcher-Wood, 2021).
If you have an interest in joining a start-up community, please drop me a line.
We can all participate in creating whatever sort of collaboration suits us best.
